Mya’s Bronze Award Project

Mya is in Girl Scouts as a Junior Scout. This is her 3rd year in Scouts. She recently had a situation arise that she became passionate about and saw a need to help others in a similar situation. Her Elementary school did not have receptacles for children that started their period nor did they have supplies to educate and help those that were at school needing them. She wrote a letter to the school asking for a receptacle for throw aways and it was granted for this next school year. She’d like to take it a step further and as part of her Bronze Award with Girl Scouts, Mya would like to provide at least 75 kits with educational pamphlets to her school to assist with first timers.

The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve.
Those seeking to earn this award represent what Girl Scouts can achieve in their communities. Earning the Girl Scout Bronze Award involves the time to complete a Journey, and then a suggested minimum of 20 hours building a team, exploring their community, choosing a project, planning it, putting a plan in motion, and spreading the word about the project.
The Bronze Award is different from a service project. The Bronze Award is a Take Action project that addresses a root cause of a community issue and has sustainable impact.
