Period Inequality Project Donation Drive
Ends April 22, 2021
We are a coalition of student run non-profit grassroots organizations here at the Douglass Residential Women’s College at Rutgers University-New Brunswick collectively working on a social action project. Our social action project is entitled “The Period Inequality Project”, which seeks to raise awareness about period poverty through on campus co-sponsorships and awareness campaigns to fund reproductive health products for LGBTQ+ homeless shelters, the Rutgers Student Food Pantry and the United Nations Population Fund.
We are coming together during our virtual semester to host an event that will raise awareness on all of these topics as well as work to raise money to send to three different organizations! We thank you for your contributions, and we cannot wait to reveal the grand total of money raised at our event on April 22, 2021! Please follow us on Instagram at @PeriodInequalityProject_RU for updates!
Meet the Heart Behind It All
PIP
Hello! We are three Rutgers University clubs – the Rainbow Pines, UltraViolet, and Reproductive Health Universal Taskforce (RHUT). Our clubs came together in order to create a large-scale collaboration event to raise awareness of something important to all of us: period inequality. This inequality can come in many forms such as period poverty in the United States, scarcity of period products in foreign countries, as well as lack of inclusion for trans and genderqueeer people with periods.
Rain Foundation + Rutgers Student Food Pantry
We have chosen to donate to: the Rutgers Student Food Pantry & the Essex County LGBT+ Reaching Adolescents In Need (RAIN) Foundation. The Rutgers Student Food Pantry is open to all Rutgers University students who are struggling to afford food and hygiene products; this organization is near and dear to our hearts as students of this university and are incredibly excited to be able to give back to the people within our school who need us the most. The RAIN Foundation is an LGBT+ youth homeless shelter in New Jersey. We specifically chose this incredible organization to donate to because of their work to help queer youth to get back on their feet after facing housing crises.
