Many women who breastfeed will find their period does not return for many months after they give birth.  If you are lucky enough to fall in that group, then you won't need to think about feminine protection until well after your body has healed.  My kids were 14 months and 12 months when my period came back.  That was a nice benefit of breastfeeding that I don't think people mention often enough.

We would recommend that a woman consults with her health care provider before using a menstrual cup after childbirth becuse the body does takes time to recuperate. This recovery time can vary from woman to woman, and the vaginal muscles must be strengthened again using exercises like Kegels. For information and tips on Kegel exercises you can visit The DivaCup Tips for Success web page.
