Periods usually last 2 - 9 days. The average menstrual cycle (counted from the 1st day of one period to the 1st day of the next period) is 28 days. Although cycles for girls just beginning their period can be quite irregular for the first couple years.

Every girl's body is unique, some girls experience only spotting for their first period and others last for several days.
