it depends! on average, people lose about 2 to 3 tablespoons (30-50 mL) of blood during their whole period. some bleed more, some less. the first few days are usually heavier, then it gets lighter. if someone is soaking through a pad or tampon every 1-2 hours, that might be too much bleeding.
