I tried using a tampon yesterday and it hurt putting it in and it was super uncomfortable. I have a party today that my parents have been planning for months and I cannot miss going into the pool. I have a slight problem being I only have ONE tampon left and I cannot screw it up. I have watched many videos and I am still scared. Please help. s there another way to go swimming without a tampon?&nbsp

Hi, Sorry you had trouble. If you pout some KY jelly or other lube on the end of the tampon it should be a lot. better. And most of all RELAX! If not it will hurt, but it soon passes off. Also, make sure you are putting it in far enough. The muscles inside your vagina must close round it or water will get in and will be really uncomfortable. No harm will be done, however.

No, you really need to wear a tampon in the water. Ask your Mum or Dad to help you get more tampons. Ask friends for spares. If you are nervous you will be tense. That makes it uncomfortable. Remember, a tampon is just o roll of cotton wool stuff with a string on. It is nothing that will cause hurt. BTW lots of girls cut the string shorter (say 2.5 ins) so it cannot dangle and show out of your bathing suit (not that it would matter if it did. Every girl has periods!)

Diva cups can do the same thing as tampons, I hear. I haven't used one, but if you could get one, that might work. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Menstrual cups are perfect for swimming. Best of luck with your swim session.
