| Private answer Extreme pain is not a normal symptom, HOWEVER - when you're young, your body is still settling in to it's cycle. I wouldn't worry about seeing a doctor yet. All women are different - for me, I experience some pain during my period but the week afterwards is when I feel the worst. Try journaling to see if your pain is following a pattern, or if it seems random or spikes because of stress, events, etc. That way if you do see a doctor, you'll be well-informed and can get answers much more quickly.
